Lauren Huffman

Lauren is a doctoral student in the clinical-community program at the University of South Carolina. Her primary research interest is the relationship between social and environmental factors and weight-related health behaviors. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama where she was a research project coordinator in the Family Functioning, Culture, and Health Research Lab with Dr. Lisa Hooper. At USC, Lauren works with Dr. Dawn Wilson in the Obesity Research Group and currently serves as a facilitator for the Families Improving Together for Weight Loss randomized controlled trial. Lauren’s Master’s thesis involved examining associations between parenting factors and physical activity levels in overweight, African American youth. On campus, she is also involved with the Presidential Fellowship program and the Behavioral-Biomedical Interface Program. Clinically, Lauren serves as a student-therapist at the Psychology Services Center, DORN VA, and Weight Management Center at Palmetto Health. Outside of work, Lauren enjoys running, checking out the local theater scene, and riding roller coasters at Carowinds.
