Dr. Schillaci earned his PhD in Physics in 1999 from the University of Arkansas. While working in Experimental Nonlinear Optics and Atomic Scattering he also took classes in Philosophy of Mind, Artificial Intelligence, Psychology, and language. After working in Computational Physics and pedagogy, for several years he joined the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina.

He has an avid interest in problems in cognition and his research efforts are toward the development of a cognitive theory of deception. Dr. Schillaci is currently working to develop software to analyze high density event related potential (HDERP) data measured from subjects performing a visual, two-stimulus paradigm, with varying workload.
