Congratulations to Nicole White for her receipt of a Fellowship from the Southern Regional Education Board State Doctoral Scholars Program!  The Doctoral Scholars Program provides financial assistance and research funding to doctoral students, as well as support, mentoring, and networking opportunities.  The goal of the Doctoral Scholars Program is to increase the number of minority students who earn doctorates and pursue faculty careers at colleges and universities.  Since its founding in 1993, the program has supported approximately 1,200 scholars at 94 institutions in 31 states.  Each fall, a thousand scholars and young faculty members convene to learn and support one another at the Institute on Teaching and Mentoring

Nicole’s mentor is Dr. Suzanne Swan.  Nicole’s research interests include trauma and mental health among ethnic minorities. Nicole is working on research related to intimate partner violence (IPV) among ethnic minority women on college campuses, academic and mental health outcomes of IPV, and the phenomena of drugging/drink spiking among college students.
